Sixth Activity Through 2-28-15

This is just a quick update. The sixth graders have been reading Dragonwings, a story about an eight-year-old Chinese boy who comes to America to meet his father for the first time ever. We have been reading the story in class and at home. Each class we show the students how to annotate and how to incorporate annotations in their writing. They have written one literary analysis. At the end of the novel, students will create a project that integrates the themes of the novel through the use of technology. The third trimester will be spent studying the Civil Rights Movement through the participation in their own Mini-History Fair unit.
