Hello everyone,
I just wanted to provide a quick update. The sixth graders have finished Huck Finnand are now embarking on a project associated with the novel. Students are either going to become story tellers, create a visual plot chart, or explore the journey down river by comparing at least three novel events to the historical events of the time. It is an exciting project. We have also completed a primary source analysis as a class as an introduction to the Reconstruction era (1865-1877). Students read the first two chapters of Reconstruction and Reform, exploring Andrew Johnson and the overall conditions of the South after the Civil War.
