Mr. Shilhanek’s eighth grade LASS class has completed the committee phase on their legislative bills on the YouthLeadership Initiative’s E-Congress simulation. His students provided amendment suggestions to students’ bill from around the country and are awaiting the return of their bills to see if they can amend them, or if the bills have been rejected. Let’s hope for the positive. Students are going to provide a primary source led presentation about the Spanish-American War from newspaper publishers to music of the time to see how Yellow Journalism heightened the United States’ expansion in the view of imperialism or idealism.
